From the old to the new.

The Hunter Valley in NSW, Australia is steeped in history from the original Wanaruah people to settlement for farming, wineries, horse breeding, mining and tourism.  Where better than the Denman & District Heritage Village to learn and experience this progression.

Denman Museum

You will experience and learn of transportation, agriculture, industry, military, business, domestic life, entertainment and technology of how our forebears began Australian settlement. You will meet locals with further oral history and anecdotes. Some of the items on display are of significant status such as the first sheep shearing machine in Australia, the oldest combustion engine in Australia (also among the oldest four stroke engines in the world) and a very rare children’s penny farthing bicycle.

While in Denman, visitors are welcome to experience an extensive and unique exhibition of local history and character. The collection is largely made up of objects and artefacts donated by local Jeff Wolfgang that reflect a broad range of the history, technological progression and cultural way of life of the Upper Hunter and, indeed all of Australia.
